A fully immersive French Chateau painting retreat adventure. A week complete with Fine Art Instruction, a bespoke Chateau experience, local French culture excursions, “Le Cordon Bleu” trained Paris chefs creating dazzling food for our stay, great local wines, and of course a gorgeous old Chateau in the heart of the picturesque Dordogne region.
Elevate your art, whatever your level, with some new tools: gold leaf gilding, create paint texture, explore color, and nail the tones, light and dark values. Johanna will be creating mostly in oils but you are free to work in the medium of your choice. We will wander to the local market with our French chefs to learn about their culinary art while picking fruits for our afternoon still life. We will drop by the brocante to choose porcelain for a different still life. We will paint around the chateau recording the landscape. We will sketch in town on a picnic outing. A portrait or two from a life sitter will also happen.
This is Johanna’s second Chateau art retreat to France. This time she is teaching at the dreamy Chateau Saint-Germain-des-Pres whose gracious owners Sara and Stephen will be on site as our hosts. Their life and historic Chateau are the stars of the poplar YouTube show “Manor and Maker”.
We will be situated in a quaint and very old French village with a walkable pattiserie to grab a croissant on an early morning walk? The Chateau and surrounds are a breath-taking spot to restore and nurture your art soul.
Student space is very limited at the Chateau for optimum experience and a very personal touch.
