OLIO | Exhibition by KATHERINE MEAD

Katherine Mead is a native Californian now living in Oregon. She is returning to Southern CA for her exhibition at Sandstone Gallery in Laguna Beach. Her mixed media work is the result of an ongoing experimentation merging collage and painting. She remains constantly intrigued by the juxtaposition of fine arts and crafts. By employing craft materials and techniques in an elevated and thoughtful manner, Mead creates compositions that are modern and fresh using materials that are familiar and timeworn. Join her at her opening reception on February1 during the Laguna Beach Art Walk from 6-9 p.m. Sandstone Gallery is across the street from the Laguna Art Museum near the corner of Jasmine St. Refreshments served.

The Light & The Vessel

Teena Zerefos is an Australian contemporary artist known for her captivating modern abstract works inspired by the Mediterranean and her Greek Island heritage. Teena was instinctively drawn to the deep majestic blues of the Aegean Sea and the vases and trinkets that adorn the tiny village in Greece that her family is from. "It feels like coming home holding a brush with a magnificent cobalt blue, and this art I call ‘Mediterranean Abstract’ flowed through me like light onto the canvas”.

Anne Moore creates monoprints, unique, one-of-a-kind prints, hand-pulled on a manual printing press. Her style ranges from precise to abstract, often hinting at writing forms and incorporating linocuts that she hand carves. Moore says, "I enjoy the hands-on, contemplative work, the surprise of pulling a new print, the reward of seeing effort, experience and creativity unite." Dominique McKenzie Exhibition | Unstructured

Sandstone Gallery’s Guest Artist, DOMINIQUE MCKENZIE, is exhibiting a large collection of her mixed media paintings in our Skylight Room. Her show, “Unstructured”, is running now through December 31. Here’s a quote from Dominique’s Artist Statement: “Everything inspires me to paint, particularly the details of my surroundings, up close designs of nature and fondation of my Art.. The imperfections of the landscapes are a reflection of our actual world and working from this idea encourages exploration and leads to multiples possibilities. It is a never ending experiment and the ultimate meditation when your imagination and your sensitivity take over.” Come meet Dominique and see her work in person at the First Thursdays Laguna Beach Art Walk on Dec 7 from 6-9 PM.

Starry Night | Exhibition by Sunny Kim

Sunny’s abstract paintings are expressions of cosmic formations. In Sunny’s words, “Each canvas represents and is a symbol of movements and colors of heavenly bodies and their celestial patterns in opposition—a state of both chaos and order!” The painting seen here, Starry Night 23-ll, holds all the energy present in Kim's interpretation of the cosmos.

We hope you’ll join us for the opening of Sunny’s show on Thursday evening, November 2, from 6pm - 9pm. In the meantime, we invite you to check out more of Sunny’s work @sunnykimart and on our website.
