This dome for Hollywood Forever Cemetery was a challenge on all fronts. The dome itself was in bad shape and heavily textured. So, we decided to paint the new design on material and apply over the surface, helping to disguise the texture. Particularly since the clients wanted the surface to be glossy which would highlight the texture. We came up with a design that could be done in sections and could be overlaid upon each other to hide seams. Applying the curved surface was a challenge, but with our great team it went smoothly. We had to use special paint to withstand the exterior conditions. The northern side never gets sun, so mildew is a factor. For the southern side, sun-bleaching can be an issue.
