Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures

Photography Workshops both Online and Location

Arnold “Arnie” Zann and Margo Taussig Pinkerton are a married team of working fine-art photographers whose images have been widely published in most major domestic and international magazines. They live in Hillsborough, North Carolina.

In addition to their broad range of assignment work, both Margo and Arnie have shot extensively for stock images that have appeared in international advertising, corporate, and editorial venues.

Now retired from commercial and editorial work, Arnie and Margo concentrate on their fine-art photography as well as run Barefoot Contessa Photo Adventures with its tag line, “Seek your own vision, and create great photos!”

Arnie started his career over 50 years ago photographing for LIFE and Time and was a member of Black Star Photo Agency for nearly 30 years. He worked on assignments for LIFE, Time, Geographic, Paris Match, New York Sunday Times, London Sunday Times, GEO, and a host of others. His award-winning photographs are in many private and museum collections including the George Eastman Museum, Rochester, NY and Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, IL. He was listed as one of the top ten corporate photographers in the United States by a major graphics arts magazine. Arnie has given many workshops and seminars throughout his long career travelling the world for editorial and Fortune 500 clients.

Margo, a.k.a. The Barefoot Contessa, got her first camera at age eight and has been photographing and traveling with a passion ever since. Starting as a location and stock photographer for travel, outdoor, advertising, and corporate clients in the early 80s, she has given numerous photo workshops and lectures. Her work has appeared in a plethora of calendars, coffee-table books, and magazines worldwide, including GEO, National Geographic Traveler, Vogue, Yankee and many others. Margo's photographs have won numerous awards over the years, have been juried into countless exhibitions as well as appeared in solo ones, and are in private collections here and abroad, including The Arthur and Elizabeth Schlesinger Library at Radcliffe, Cambridge, MA and the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Yale University, New Haven, CT.  Growing up in an artistic family that exposed her to the great museums and painters of the world has given Margo a unique insight into composition and the quality of light. The energy and passion for photography that she brings to her work are infectious.

Arnie and Margo’s passion is making thoughtful and compelling images worldwide. As they always say, "We cannot not do photography.”

With over 70 years working and teaching experience between them, Margo and Arnie, share their insights and push everyone to his/her next level of fine art photography.  Their small, interactive groups have a ton of fun while stepping out of their comfort zones. There is a reason for their high percentage of returning alumni.
