My day to day paintings are plein air landscapes and cityscapes. I’ve recently taken to large scale native botanicals in my studio works. It pushes me to play with shapes, structure, transparencies and color relationships in a larger scale.
I work in oils on an oil ground surface either on panels or stretched canvas.
Argentine-born Monica Edwards has been an artist for most of her life. She earned a BFA in bio-illustration from CSULB, working her way through school by illustrating for medical filmstrips, the Cabrillo Marine aquarium and illustrating courtroom graphics. She had a 14-year career with the Orange County Register providing info-graphics wherein she was recognized with multiple international awards from SND The Society of News Design, nominator for a Pulitzer prize for her work in environmental journalism/art and was award the Scripps-Howard award.
I continue to volunteer my time taking the public onto the Irvine Ranch Conservancy land to paint, as well as holding free plein air painting classes and botanical illustration classes through the OC Parks .
