A 9′ trompe l’oeil niche painted on material because it was in a stairwell and we didn’t want to block the stairs with scaffolding for more than a few hours. After the cutout was installed, we came back and added drop shadows on the fauxed walls to sell the illusion. The design took into consideration the light fixture that was to be installed there.
